Samantha Diwa

Samantha Diwa, 17, will be a senior at Coronado High School in El Paso, Texas, where she is a newspaper editor for The Explorer and yearbook editor-in-chiefDiwaSamantha of The Legend. She is an active member of Academic Decathlon, Peer Assistance and Leadership (P.A.L.S.), Quill & Scroll, the Girl Scouts of America and is also the founder of El Paso’s only Odyssey of the Mind school organization. As a writer especially interested in art and photography, she hopes to pursue a career in photojournalism or graphic design after high school.

International students at MU offer perspective on diverse issues during election year
The Urban Pioneer interviewed six international students from MU to gather their opinions about five divisive issues in the country: gun violence, immigration policy, the upcoming presidential election, racial tension, and LGBT rights.
Interviewees have spent between a year and three years in the U.S.. All but two of the students are undergraduates. Three interviewees are from China, while the rest come from India, Trinidad, and South Africa.
